I think there was a scandal a few years back about the Euros basically bottling motor oil, calling EVOO and selling it to the witless mangia-cakes in North America.

I feel like I watched a netflix special about this.

but regardless, after travelling to the mediterranean and tasting what they call olive oil there, puts our north american stuff in perspective.

University of California (Irvine) tested a bunch of brands for potential adulteration — Kirkland tested very favourably

A lot of it has to do with freshness — we get our imports way after harvest dates

I think all of the brands I buy are legit....I'd be suspicious if they were riduclously cheap (which they aren't)
 
is using a garlic crusher kosher as an Italian? I would think not...

For our day to day I use the costco stuff mbow likes but for special occasions we’ll trek down to Liquid Gold for the good stuff.
