Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

hughes - schenn
oel - myers
rathbone - burroughs

oh yeah that'll do it.

*edit* my bad looks like this game it's:

oel - myers
burroughs - schenn
rathbone -juulsen

is luke schenn still on their top pair?
He's actually provided solid leadership on/off the ice (might be the only guy on the team that still plays like he gives a sh*t; way too many floaters on the team).

On the 2nd year of an essentially minimum NHL wage deal. Needed because the farm club (AHL) is completely empty of legitimate prospects (no help on the farm in case of injuries). Though the issues on the blueline really aren't injury related (players there just suck at playing defense lol).

Interesting quote by Sean Monahan (who is attempting his comeback after 2 hip surgeries)

NHL needs to get with the times, exhibit #infinity

“Hockey players are a different breed, most athletes are,” Monahan said. “But watching other leagues, like the NBA, you see guys getting maintenance days and games off and stuff like that. You rarely ever see that in hockey. I don’t know if we’ll ever get to that, but 82 games is a long time. If you’ve got a strain on something and you just keep playing, usually it stays with you for the season. I don’t know if there will ever be a change, but you never know.”

Taxi squads of 3 would.
Yep.

Cap being for you 20 players dressed would allow for days off with a small taxi squad.

I've said for a while that any player acquired after Jan 1 that is on an expiring contract should have a cap hit of $0. All the retention and cap gymnastics around the deadline is stupid and takes away from teams being strategic.

If anything it would also allow coaches to sit players based on performance. If a star sucks against bottom feeders you sit him and let someone else put in the effort.

Not digging but your B team should have beat AZ. Habs have a little more firepower up front than AZ so yeah, you may still need your A team there.

The $0 cap hit help the rebuilding teams as much as they would help the contenders. Cap space would be weaponized by 1 year deals for vets with the intention of moving them after Jan 1.
