The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

He's mocking it because his boy Dubas didn't make this decision. If Kyle were still GM and landed on the same conclusion he would love it.

Either way i stand by what ive said, as a guy who sees both pros and cons about both dubas and keefe - fact is its much easier for me to make a pro-keefe argument than a pro-dubas argument based on track record. Especially considering that goaltending is the one thing least under the coach's control, and is the only thing that wasnt elite under keefe.

It's impossible to argue otherwise.

And hopefulyl this mean this organization can get back to their roots as an analytics forward-thinking organization. Everything I read about Treliving says that he is sort of obsessed with data providing him with information and not so much with his own eyes. That is the one thing this organization got away from over the past few seasons so it'll be refreshing to see a return to that. He has cap space to work with so let's see what he can find in the bargain bin. This ain't Calgary.. Players love signing in Toronto, especially since it means they'll have an opportunity to get juiced up stats playing with Matthews or Tavares.

Yup. Kyle sounded like he was ready to make a big move on one of the core 4.

this is the upside to firing him, now you get to fanfiction in any kind of bad moves you like….while giving Treliving all the credit for…keeping Dubas’ team together?

👌🏼

it’s just fucking stupid….they’re a tandem, and he’s winning with the team Kyle helped build.

…and he fucking hired him, you morons. Jesus fucking Christ,
Are you discussing in overview or specifics? Because the 30 thousand foot view leans Keefe and I don't like any of your people. Just saying.

The GM built the team, the GM hired his hand picked coach to run his team….and it took off.

….but let’s not give the GM any credit for it.

Fanfiction = your version of Kyle's success in Toronto. He was thoroughly mediocre. I wanted him to be better too. He's young, attractive, and knew how to handle a calculator. Easy guy to root for. But sometimes you have to fold your hand and acknowledge that he wasn't the guy we thought he'd be. It's okay to admit it.

Dubas with his coach, were some of the best Leafs teams of all time….once it goes to shit under future GMs and you recognize how good we had it, and how hard it is to build & sustain that level of success, you’ll look back and recognize how fucking dumb it was to fire him.

…and if I’m wrong, and Treliving makes this team his own, and superior by 2025 and beyond, I’ll eat all the crow possible.

Or that he changed. He was the guy we wanted him to be, a few missteps here and there.

But then he went off the rails last year, showed some ridiculous instability after the playoffs, and was poised to make potentially devastating moves a la the Sandin and Engvall trades, just with Nylander and maybe Marner this time.

I loved the Dubester, but not the current stupid, unhinged, unreliable version of the Dubester.

i'm hoping from some hard questions from our hapless media at the presser at 11. let's get some real answers from brad and shanny about the worst parts of brad's track record please.
