New Canadian Politics Thread

Any time I go to Europe or south or central America I allocate 2 days to a beach spot. Any more than that and the boredom levels go parabolic in a hurry.

Yeah, it's not for everyone, for sure. The advantage is that a little money goes a long way. Even when the taxi driver tries to scam you with expensive tourist rates, it's still way cheaper than grabbing a cab in Toronto. Even if you don't want to worry about figuring out the collectivos, most places you can hop in a cab across town for not much more than a TTC fare.

I've found uber to be reliable, cheap and overall pretty fucking great in Mexico.

Now...there has been some goofy shit between can drivers and uber drivers recently (i think a cab driver recently tried to beat up an uber driver and berated his passengers in cancun) but yeah, I've generally only taken transit in Mexico as a cultural experience aside from CDMX and a few times in vallarta

Yeah…compared to most, I tend to travel in hard mode so I make sure I slot a few days somewhere in the middle of the trip where there is nothing to do except relax.

Often it’s a beach spot but just as often it’s a regular old town that tourists give zero fucks about

If my holiday choices are between a beach resort and Europe I'm taking Europe every time. The only tike I've done a beachy type holiday is when I went to Hawaii. Once on a 7 day cruise that went from Honolulu to Maui, Hilo, Konami and Kuaii and once just to Maui. The cruise part I'll never do again but the time spent on land was great as was the snorkeling. But Hawaii ain't cheap.
 
I avoid resorts when booking personal travel. One time my mom did book us a stay at Club Med in Turks. As resorts go, that’s the way to do it at least. Adults only too.

And it helped that I spent most of my days scuba diving anyways, and I could book this direct thru the resort.

I mean, we had some of that shit too in Toronto when Uber was first getting established.

I liked when Uber first came out Taxi companies thought they had a chance to get the government to get rid of them because they were illegal.. Taxi companies sat on their asses for years and did nothing.
Uber was pretty cheap first couple of years

resorts can be fun. Staying on the resort and not seeing the surrounding areas is a different story. Depends on the group/people you go with.
 
I have admitted fault and acknowledged that I'm the weird one for not enjoying be locked up at a resort. This doesn't make me better than anyone
