All I can tell you is that there's a feeling. Can't quantify it on this one because the materialization of Ohtani in a Jays uni is just too mindblowingly exciting. It skews the sixth sense.
 
It's weird because it's an obvious fit in a lot of ways, but no chance it's happening.
At least not until I see the ebay order receipt for Ohtani Jays batting gloves. Then I'll believe.

I think they have genuine interest, but i also suspect they know there is zero chance but are very content finishing runner up and having the perception that they tried, so the average fan thinks they did.

what i will find telling is what do they do when they obviously miss. Do they go hard for Soto/Bregman, Yamamoto, or Bellinger ( id hope not) or do they settle into the spread money around approach with Candelario/Soler/IKF? I think most of us know the answer
 
The only thing i will say that gives me pause is that if ive learned anything is that the universe will not allow me to have nice things, never, ever,ever and it would be very fitting for Shatkins to sign Ohtani after i turn on them after years of loyalty.

I turned bullish the day you lost faith in them. The contra Jonas indicator has too high of a predictive value to pass up. Didn't work out in the playoffs but maybe now's the time

There is simply no way the universe would allow me to win that hard, being alone on the Shatkins island with Axl while they sign Ohtani and make all the haters look bad.

No, i must relent and become a hater to.

Im simply hated on a universal level
 
Why is it unrealistic that we’d get an international player like this?

We have a good team, great city, and can pay him whatever he wants.

Inferiority complex, where everything thinks that Toronto is like a Milwaukee-level club, and not truly in the NYY/LAD/CHC tier.

There is simply no area where we outshine LAD

they have more money
they have a better core that is locked in
they have a better farm
west coast
they have a better history of winning

this isnt necessarily a shot at Toronto, i just simply dont think any team can really compete with LAD in this regard.
