2023-24 Premier League Thread

You're including Villa in the bottom half??? What are you, Sky sports? This big six thing is ridiculous, like beating Man U is some sort of an achievement (I don't want to talk about our results against them this year so I'm just going to move on quickly).
Yeah, that was poorly phrased.

I knew what you meant, no worries. It's just silly that broadcasters only seem to think that only the highest revenue teams matter. Villa did have the best record in the top four mini table with three wins, a draw and two losses.
Emery has done a helluva job at Villa. He couldn’t get the job done at Arsenal but succeeding Wenger was never going to be easy and the office politics nearly destroyed the club.

In retrospect, if Arsenal had been willing to go as far as Villa did in letting Emery re-fashion the support staff then they probably would have gotten through the transition much better. Either way, they're happy enough under Arteta and Villa are certainly happy enough to let Emery hire every Spaniard he wants so long as they keep winning.

Multiple reports that Pochettino is out at Chelsea by mutual consent. They finished 6th in the table but it took a late rally, unbeaten in their last 6 and winning their last 5 matches after absorbing a 5-0 drubbing to Arsenal. They came from 2 goals down the next time out to salvage a draw with Villa, then beat Spurs, West Ham, Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Bournemouth.

I felt like Poch finally got them to play the way he wanted down the stretch. Seems weird to let him go now, but if they weren't on the same page moving forward then ... it's Chelsea, what can ya say? This kind of crap is deep in their DNA

I don't get it. I don't personally think Poch is a great manager, but the team got better over the course of the season and they're delusional if they thought top four was a reasonable expectation this season.

John Textor is looking to sell his 45% stake in Crystal Palace and is Interested in buying Everton. The purchase by 777 Partners looks like it’s in trouble and must be completed by the end of the month. Everton owner Farhad Moshiri told the fan advisory board that he had received unsolicited offers to buy the club. Textor’s Eagle Football must sell their stake in Palace before they can buy Everton. Eagle Football also owns Ligue 1 Olympique Lyonnais, BrazilIan club Botafogo and RWD Molenbeek in Belgium.

There are multiple reports that Erik ten Hag will be sacked by Man U regardless of the outcome of the FA Cup final. With an 8th place finish Man U must win the FA Cup to play European football next season.

Whatever has to be done to keep 777 out of the Prem is a must.

That seems to be imploding with or without Eagle Football. If/when it happens, that puts more pressure on Everton’s finances until a while knight turns up. It wouldn’t shock me to see another points deduction next season.

The FA Cup was a Manchester Derby and the red team rescued their season and booked at ticket to the Europa League by beating the blue team 2-1. Absent a win, Man U wouldn’t have qualified for European football.

Just like everyone was predicting this morning ... wait.
