New Canadian Politics Thread

Yup. But those CPC douches have benefitted from the left splitting it's vote vs their unified front for 20+ years now. We should have been voting strategically this whole time anyway.
Exactly. The NDP was always more of a hindrance than a help. The Libs should be dark funding the PPC to split the vote on the right. The only time anyone but a Con ran Alberta was when the Wildrose Party split the Con vote and got Notley elected. Once the right united it was bye bye Alberta NDP.

Yep. And also helped by a lot of Bloc support directly switching over to the Liberals in Quebec.

The two parties have essentially traded places in the polling & seat projections in Quebec since Trudeau stepped down and Carney became the presumptive new leader, for a potential swing of about +15 seats for the Liberals.

Carney is bottling it in QC so far. A lot of uncertainty, but I could see this flipping back, or part way.

Probably better to keep Carney sheltered a bit from the French language stuff. But he needs to speak directly to Quebec voters more often. They’re at a point where a swing back to the Bloq could give Quebec the balance of power in a minority government and Blanchet is going to run hard with that.

They must have found an opening to exploit in the polls. Hoping to take advantage of uninformed seniors with nonsense like this to get the swing vote

Say it’s a precursor to going after CPP and OAS so that seniors have to work until they’re dead just like PP’s buddies south of the border.

Play dirty.

That’s exactly what it is.

And it’s not really relevant for today’s seniors, but tomorrow’s seniors. This is about delaying retirement and increasing the size of the workforce in the coming decades.

perhaps it will work out positively that PP's brand is built on being an unlikeable asshole. but I am still scared.

If I had told you 60 days ago that 5 weeks out from the election, the chances of a PP government was somewhere in the 20% range and that it was almost guaranteed to be a minority if he did win....you would still have the erection from that.

We're playing with house money

Lots of people also believed that PP would drop in popularity once he was out on the campaign trail and people actually see what he’s like. We’ll see how that plays out, but it’s definitely possible that his personal likability numbers continue to crater the more exposure he gets.
