2nd Rnd '25 Playoffs: Leafs vs Panthers - Flo-Rida them onto the ECF - LFG!

There was a moment in the game (leafs pp) where barkov was going in 1 on 1 vs Marner and trying to beat him, realizing it's Marner. Mitch played it perfectly, got the puck and immediately transitioned. He'd be an awesome d I think. Wish they tried it earlier in his career.

A guy like Willy would have gotten torched on that play.
Also - rielly also gets torched on that.

I think he's shifty enough to avoid contact. But it's a fair question that I wish they would have answered when he was younger.

I wouldn't worry too much about us not trying a conversion that to my knowledge has never actually been done before. I mean, he's good defensively for a winger but I think we're overselling it a bit here.

Yeah because no one ever tries it

Usually that conversion happens when a kid is still in junior but back then there wasn’t any proof of concepts like Quinn….

and even a few years ago a guy like Hutson fell to 62.

But soon enough, I think every team in the league will dedicate a roster spot to a small shifty offensive d-man who can survive the forecheck with smarts

The thing is, Marner was way too successful as a forward to even contemplate

Yeah can't do it now or while he's putting up 90+ points. But based on team need it would have been cool to try earlier in his career. They did it once or twice(?) and he looked awesome. Completely changes the dynamic offensively as you've seen from Hutson. But NHL teams don't often take bold risks to experiment like that.

Imo the time to do it was that one year where they desperately needed a rhd and traded kadri for a shit one. Maybe that prior year was the time to experiment and give it a shot before you torch your offensive depth to acquire a shit d out of desperation.

The secret is that my French hate is all an act. Don't tell habsy though
Already knew. And the wink emoji should have told you I was kidding.

I took a loss on my sportsbook last night and I'm fine with it. Can't win em all.

Leafs played a smart game. Few egregious mistakes. They earned it.

Right now all I care about is Knies. They never showed on the shit US broadcast what happened to him. I still don’t know.
Mikkola got him on a reverse hit in the first when Knies was forechecking. Looked like his hip. Was a nothing play too. Super shitty
