2025-2026 Off Season Thread - The Rehappening

bruins had no problem trading former 1st overall pick, hart trophy winner Joe Thornton. 6 years later they got a cup.

This core has run its course. I wouldn’t care in the least if they all moved on.
Issue is they drafted so well after that and signed the perfect UFAS. No way this organization does that.

I don't know why, but I find it interesting that Marner is with them.

It feels the same as when I was saying last offseason that he was staying put and then there was that meeting with him and Berube that happened at a Starbucks.

Although the talking heads will go nuts over it, and much of the fanbase too, I think he will want to stay so badly that he'll find a way to make a deal, and maybe the Leafs get the better of a contract negotiation for once.

Hey watching kyper and Bourne for fun and they are doing a segment on the five best and worst moves of the shanny years...and God are some of the moves are God awful....

I can't believe I don't remember some of these disasters like....

Spending 7.5 million for kasha, mrazek and Ritchie. Instead of paying 5 million...guh

Then they go with the rush move to trade marleu and the first...when they didn't have to trade him cuz he needed to spend the money on kapanan and Johnson. And what the disgusting mentor he was to Matthew and marner. He never had that desire to win and cared more about money and location. He pisses me off more than most with his and Thornton's loser attitude
I never understood the rationale of Marleau or Thornton. Allegedly it was so that their veteran experience would teach the core 4 how to win. But Marleau and Thornton never won a goddamn thing. In fact, they were key reasons why their teams didn't win. Boston got rid of Thornton and then won a Cup. Marleau had the "C" ripped from him because he was a terrible leader. How exactly were these guys supposed to teach anyone how to win when they didn't know themselves what it took?

If he agrees to stay for free it's still going to be a terrible deal for the leafs.

The issue is that they had the balls to accept the reality that they were never going to win with Jumbo Joe and got rid of him. They didn't live in denial like the Leafs have for the last 5 years.

The core 4 should have been broken up in some form or other the second they lost game 7 to the Habs in 2021. Every game the Leafs have played since has just been a waste of time.
