The media are all talking about how well Skinner played after one period. Then he was pulled. Knoblauch may feel otherwise, as he did pull him. I thought he was weak on the first goal, and gave up a rebound on another.
I again find it laughable how many Skinner apologists there are among media. If he's been so good, why isn't he in the net and why do we hear these excuses so often ?

Im no fan of Skinner but the Oilers were dogshit in the first period a d took dumb penalties that cost them. They have now allowed (I think) 24 powerplay goals in these playoffs. Last year they only allowed 4.
It's because it is ingrained from an early age "don't blame goalies". I never bought that view but it is what it is.

I can understand Kelly Hrudy or anyone who played the position having a somewhat positive take on goaltending generally. But you are right, it seems to be the go-to view.
I also find it a bit funny to see Connor Hellebucyk walking away with all the hardware today. I know the critera-regular season and all that. But he might have been the worst of the lot in the playoffs.
