It's Canadian virtue signalling (and Washington state). For a time, the city of Vancouver literally charged you for fountain drink cups. Get this, in one municipality, they charge you for a bag in drive thrus. I'm like where else am I supposed to put my fries

I have to pay 15 to 25 cents for a bag at every drive thru in Edmonton.

And the fries go into one of the cup holders next to your drink.

Obviously I wasn’t upset about $3.00 but it seemed really chintzy on their part.

Likely an eco regulation — bring a reusable bag next time you climate change denier!!!
