OT: World Politics

Despite Trump's repeated declaration that the war is over, I'm not sure there's much reason to believe that's true.

Actually it seems like a pretty good reason to believe it's not true.

There's two related things that work in Trump's favor to gain some legit form of peace in the mideast:

1. the ukraine invasion has absolutely battered russia's wealth, military, and reputation. Russia funding and support in opposition of USA is a huge reason why there's been so much conflict in the region. Russia simply can't fund and supply the anti-israel forces right now like they have been for so long.

2. Trump is hostile towards the ideas of democracy, human rights, and fully supportive of authoritarians looting their country's economies for personal gain. This makes the saudis and qataris and all the others much more natural allies to trump than to previous US regimes. He will gladly help them pursue power and profit and will actively help them work against democracy and human rights in the region and in the world.

together, this probably makes peace with Israel the best way for these arab leaders to achieve more power and wealth for themselves.

Netanyahu needs war and an enemy to distract people from his corruption and domestic issues. I can't see much changing until there's dramatic changes within Israeli power structure.

Whatever his reasons for this, he's not a serious partner for peace. While all of this was going on in Gaza, he was doing this:

There is no possibility of a lasting peace between the two without a two state solution. It's that fucking simple.

Leftists, amirite?
Some may recall that I have an old high school classmate that went nuts during Covid and became a freedom fighter influencer that gained a pretty big following. He also used to be maga. He's also now a groyper that has based his entire political beliefs as "Israel is evil and needs to be eliminated" and how maga is part of the problem.

This isn't evidence of anything in terms of raw numbers, but the guy does have six figures of followers on various platforms. And the groyper movement is large and growing. Nick is very influential and quite frankly talented at what he does. His subscriptions and followers have blown up lately and he's becoming more mainstream, just as Trump/maga became more mainstream in the years leading up to 2024. Important to pay attention because it's kind of scary.

The far right and the certain parts of Jewish community was always a strange partnership. Once the payments dry up to these podcasters and youtube stars and they eventually run out of brown people to kidnap, the Jewish community could be the next target in the US. They will need to find the next group to blame.

Important to remember that we now have proof that Charlie Kirk was being paid by Israel and Jewish donors to shill for Israel and spread their propaganda. As per texts released that were sent days before he died, he was about the flip because some of the donors stopped paying him. If this starts happening to other maga influencers, it could get ugly.
