OT: World Politics

What in the actual fuck. Sure, there is a small contingent of loons on "the left" that believe all kinds of stupid things, but that is just an outrageous statement. "The right" doesn't have one opinion, either.
Keep your head in the sand, makes you feel better!

The NDP hates Jews, and so does the Green Party.

Have you taken a "how to be an anti-racist" course? I did. Now it could have been just the one teacher/course, but she went through all the visible minorities, but forgot Jews.... hmmmm.

Have you been in pure left spaces? Try to be a Jew that stays true to your identity... good luck.

Caveat: Forum Ice is pretty much a "Liberal" (read LPC)/ Centre Left space. We don't have a lot of socialists/progressives here

The far left and far right (i.e. extremists) tend to be more likely to hate an entire group of individuals. Just based on their likely personality profile alone. They are the more radical hateful cohort. But yeah, it's still a sweeping generalization that they're all like that.

You utter ludicrous statements like this, and I'm the one with my head in the sand? Lol.
Look, you don't have to believe it, but this statement is not ludicrous (you can take it with a grain of salt because right-wing or biased or something)

“A disgraceful attempt by NDP candidate Craig Sauvé to import a foreign conflict into Quebec and Canada,” the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs tweeted on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). “In a bid for votes, Jagmeet Singh and the NDP are turning their backs on our values, fuelling antisemitism in the process.”

B.C. premier says former minister's exit from NDP is 'humbling'
David Eby said he disagrees with antisemitism claim by Selina Robinson, who resigned from party caucus

You are going to find some racists and imbeciles in EVERY political party on Earth. To use that to blame EVERYBODY in the party, is simply absurd. You guys cannot be this obtuse, honestly. It's like saying everybody on "The Right" is a white supremacist. It undermines your argument, and makes you look completely unobjective and ridiculous.

Who is blaming everybody in a party? You always take the opposing position and stretch it way past what anyone is actually saying.

And if you’re trying to say there’s only a handful of antisemites on the left, well you filled your comedy quota for the day.

Think there's always going to be fringe elements on either side but the GOP now openly embraces those far right groups. The President dines with Nick Fuentes, Kanye West, gives shoutouts to white supremacist neofascist militant organizations, pardons people who've pushed white supremacist/antisemitic views, his companies/resorts host known antisemites, etc etc.

He's also, of course, expressed admiration for Hitler on more than one occasion and long been obsessed with the idea that he, a white man of German descent has superior genetics, whereas people of other races have are low IQ (which he only ever says about non-white people). He's talked about this kind of thing since the 80s. He uses language straight from Hitler speeches, and has admitted to owning a book of his speeches.

I didn't stretch anything at all, it's literally what he said.
When I discuss a political party, I do not refer to the rank-and-file members; I discuss the political leadership.

But this place does like to (rightfully, in many cases) say all MAGA (rank-and-file) members believe what their leadership and ecosystem tell them to believe. Why is there a difference with the NDP?

And I proved it wasn't just a fever dream on my end, that there are real doubts about where the NDP stands (could be biased, sure).

And your response: "Well, sure, there are fringe people in every party..." lol.

bizarre comparison.

and yes, the maga rank and file has been steadfastly loyal to the cult/dear leader on pretty much every issue, even if it's the exact opposite of everything they've ever claimed to stand for. what's the dispute exactly?
I am not disputing anything.

I think the Right/MAGA/GOP/CPC are a 5-alarm fire of antisemitism.

I think the "Left" - not centre left - are a "log cabin" with an accelerant already on the wood waiting for the spark to light it.
