2025-2026 Off Season Thread - The Rehappening

If they can sign McMann for a cheap extension right now, I would do that too. Give him an extra two years at $2m or whatever if you can get him to agree.
 
I'm not too hung up on labels. I think Tavares is very clearly still an excellent 2c. In no world is a guy that scores 70+ points a 3c. But he'll be more effective if he has another C in the middle six that can take some of the tougher minutes from him.
 
Why they don't want to roll with Robertson and just apparently want to trade him off for nothing is mind-boggling though. Give him a couple of years and $2M and actually let him play. I will be pretty pissed if they dump him for some shitty pick.

Whereever you slot him on paper, you are still asking do i need another top 9 C? and the answer should be yes. Laughton aint it

Yeah, but he was great in the regular season and if $2M can buy you 20+ goals for a middle sixer, lock him up and just hope he shows better next postseason. He definitely doesn't hurt anyone out there when he's not scoring.
 
They have more holes at forward obviously but I still think their biggest need is on d. Unfortunately that guy on d is gonna be next to impossible to find unless they had assets to trade for Dobson.

Yeah I'm not sure he's the guy they need. Perfect world, it's a big, smooth skating two way horse that can completely transform their transition game and get a lot of minutes with Matthews and Willy. Those are the guys that make a difference when games get tight, creating odd man scenarios and whatnot.

It's no coincidence that prime Mo always seemed to step up offensively in those tight playoff games.

We probably are going to see a trade that moves out a D to create room for a new guy (like Ekblad). I don't think they intend to let Rielly go, so it would probably be Carlo or OEL.
 
Carlo probably gets you a fair amount more than he's worth in trade, and Ekblad is quite a bit better than him. That would be a major upgrade if you don't overpay Ekblad on a dumb deal.

And maybe you can swipe a good young forward away from someone in exchange for Carlo.
