Bob McKenzie has no centers in his top 10 mock draft....it’s actually a poll of scouts

There is so much to like about Joe Veleno. He's a hard-nosed workhorse that makes the players around him better. The fleet-footed center is unselfish and will primarily look to make a play at top speed; however, when the chance arises to put it in the pot himself, he will capitalize. He sees the ice well and is rarely caught out of position. His defensive game is refined and he actively pursues puck control. Transitioning to offence is natural, smooth, and quick. All-in-all, a well-rounded two-way forward that skates well and can be the catalyst a team needs to turn a game in its favor. If he can find the consistency in refusing to let himself get taken out of plays, especially if he doesn't start them, he will thrive and exceed expectations. (Curtis Joe, EP 2017)

Between this and his numbers... he sounds like a future 3rd like centre. If we draft outside of the top 5 he's our guy.

What’s the deal with veleno?

Anyone have some info

He hasn`t lived up to the hype but I still think he can be a good 2C in this league . Those exemption players are expected to be studs but maybe JV needs a bit more time .

I still think he goes late lottery - 18th based on potential . Unlike Sean Day here in Toronto with same exemption status but never put in the work and has a shit attitude , JV I think will make it .

If by some way MB can finagle another 1st rounder sounds like a good pick for mid 1st round

Karlsson? I'd say he's up there with Potvin.
Karlsson wasn't a big time prospect though. He was drafted 15th overall. Dahlin's pre-draft stats are much better than Karlsson's.

The chances of Dahlin being better than Karlsson in the NHL are not great though. But it's definitely possible.

Button was on radio saying he is part Lidstrom with more physicality and better D awareness than EK . I dont think he will put up EK points in this league but will be a 1D from the get go .

Agreed I was at the prospects game and Veleno has talent , great smooth skater . This would require one of those larger deals in the summer maybe involving Max.
