2019-20 Canes Miscellaneous News Thread

The Checkers play at home tonight so maybe someone comes up after the game? The 1:00 start tomorrow could cause a problem for that though.

Just based on parking and the fair traffic alone tomorrow!!! ;)

I swear, if you ever want an unscientific way of seeing how this area has grown like crazy...just go to the fair once or twice a year and compare the crowds...we went yesterday at 10:30am and both the Carter Finley and PNC arena lots were almost full, it was a madhouse for that early in the day and we noticed a difference from most other years on the same day. I give the Canes props for being brave enough to pull off a game on a weekend fair day.

I went to see Bon Iver at the arena last weekend with the Fair open and it was pretty much painless. I allowed an extra 45 minutes and didn't need any of it. Of course, that was a restricted seating show and they only sold about 12,000 tickets. If there's a big crowd for the Canes game, it could be much worse. Come in Edwards Mill if possible. There's less crossover with Fair traffic in that direction.

Edwards Mill was a nightmare at 6 last night with the shuttle lot at Reedy Creek screwing things up. But that’s also prime time for dopes like me trying to get to the fair for dinner.

Teravainen is back with Aho, Foegele is with Staal at practice today. No other changes from Saturday.

Yeah ... that's what Brindy was setting up before the Hawks game, but he swapped Turbo and Foegele when they went with that monster first line. I think the idea being that this gives a bit of balance. Aho's line can do whatever, while Staal concentrates on the territorial game and scores if they can. Nice to have another productive line with Huala to support the other two.

Long term though ... I see this setting itself up for Williams to eventually come back and plop himself on Staal's line as things tighten up and you need a dedicated checking unit. That would explain the almost self destructively short roster ... shaving daily dollars off of the Cap limit.

Once again ... good thing for everyone involved that the AHL affiliate is located so close at hand. Especially if we're going to play this tap dance game for a long time ... and it looks like we are.
