2019 Free Agency Thread

Definitely the term, don’t know about the money. Signing a career backup, who’s only played more than 30 games twice in his career to a 2 year contract and will be 38 when it ends is silly.

Mac doubles his salary from a year ago in a tax free state, gets his two year deal before he heads off into retirement, gets a legit Cup chance on a solid team, he parlayed a very good season and opportunity in Carolina into exactly what he wanted for his last deal. Good for Curtis!

a very good AHL team should lose players to the NHL . Canes don't have many openings so the Checkers UFAs are going to go elsewhere.

Bob to Florida, 7 years/$70 million.

Panarin to the Rangers, 7 years/$81.5 million. He turned down 8/$96 million from Columbus.

Checkers Captain Patrick Brown signs with Vegas, two year deal, second year is a one way deal for Brown. He deserves an NHL shot full time so good for him.

Checkers have said good-bye now to Brown, Roy, Poturalski, Didier, Saarela...good chunk of the Calder Cup gang.

First year has a $450k guarantee too. Good for him.

On bonuses for players under 35, if you have played 400+ games AND in the last year of your most recent contract you spent 100 days or more on IR, then your new ONE YEAR contract can contain performance bonuses.

Saw a screen grab that looked like Montreal offered a sheet to Aho... Trying to re-find it...
Edit: People with a better understanding of French say it meant they "would" offer not they have offered..

Fake account by what it sounds like.

Cherkers lose another, even though he was only on loan. Tomas Jurco to the Oilers.

That's what I expected but Montreal may be considering one but they wouldn't want to do it now... since they wouldn't want their offer to be against their cap for most of a week.. (IMO) at this stage of Free agency Also it matters almost nothing unless Aho signed it.

I'm not all that mad with either of these deals.

Florida was WAY out on that limb for Bob, they had to pay whatever it would take after Luongo retired and that market really only responds to name players. They didn't have much choice but to boat a big fish today. The only problem for them is the term, but since that's all they had to offer ... yeah. Bob's probably got 4-5 good years left and they're on the hook for 7. Figure it out.

Speaking of markets that only respond to name players, the Rangers had cleared the decks as best they could to go spend today and frankly they got the youngest impact forward in the market. Is he worth that much? Probably not, but he was worth more than that today, given the Blue Jackets' offer ... so that's a kind of a win, I guess. Sucks to be Columbus, but Panarin was never going to re-sign there. And he didn't have to, since he doesn't owe them squat.

It's the bottom six forwards and dinosaurs getting fairly hefty contracts that concerns me today. A couple more July 1sts like this one and we're going to be doing the lockout dance again.

Wild sign Mats Zuccarello, 5 years/$30 million. Full MNC first 3 years, 10 team no trade list last 2.

Wild also sign Ryan Hartman, 2 years/$3.8 million.

Panthers sign Anton Stralman 3 years/16.5 million.

on the channel I think

This screen shot basically says that the Habs have sent an offer sheet to Aho. Further rumor is that Bergevin and Waddell are now talking about a possible trade as well. Maybe Suzuki or Drouin involved.

Not a sniff of that down here, FWIW.

And if Montreal actually did send him an offer sheet, they probably did us a favor since we can match it and put this thing to bed.

Wayne Simmonds to the Devils, 1 year/$5 million

Apparently the Oiler have signed Tomas Jurco to a one year, $750,000 deal .... to further bolster my case about bottom 6 forwards getting over paid. He didn't have an NHL contract last year

The issue is the offer may be front heavy with signing bonuses to the tune of $50M. Your ownership might not want to match.

The new rumor is they are talking trade.
