I don't think we need to rush into a decision here. In some ways, 18 protected is actually quite a lot, so I would guess that these 3 new teams will be fairly bad, even if they some decent players with the 19th best player from a few of our teams. But I do think if we have 3 new owners who want to come in, I'd welcome them in, so figuring out some way to handle that would be nice.
Well, you have to toss in a couple 1st round picks with Judge in order to get a stud SS in Didi Gregorious. Can’t blame a guy for that.We should.....we should also try to figure out a way to prevent this from happening in the future. (Like maybe can't trade 1sts two years away, without paying the league fee ahead of time for that season?..or something of that ilk)
I think many of us knew this was coming when Bad News traded away his future firsts for instance.
Where are they drafting?I always consider it because drafts are the funnest, but always decide against it.
Watching a three-team dispersal draft going down tonight for one of other leagues and it's been funnn.
Just in a twitter chat.Where are they drafting?
You should grant access to both Ray and Wade. It would increase the hilarity of the draft tenfold.Just in a twitter chat.
Thing is though...those teams are no longer part of the league so you don't own their picks anymore. *You'd* be the one getting compensation, not them.I have some draft pick issues there...in my "build from scratch" mode, I kinda targeted some of the bad teams (including Bears & Stubby both years) to look for future important draft picks when dealing some of my more valuable names. I guess I wouldn't mind the possibility of giving the replacement owners lower compensation, but I'd hate to lose the (potential) value of those picks.
Selfish, I know! But it was a big part of my strategy in a lot of moves.
Unfortunately that's always a risk with trading for future 1sts. Last time, what we did is, if you owned a pick of one of those teams, you'd get the 11th pick of that round.
Looking forward to seeing the results.Just in a twitter chat.

How do you use a pick of a team that doesn't exist?Well that's not how it works. You give up an asset for a pick, the draft pick is yours wherever it falls. Completely undermines the league if we take picks from managers that gave up assets for them. Don't have an issue giving picks back to the new managers in the middle of the round, but yeah we can't screw over current managers that traded for picks in good faith.

Dispersal draft.I get that I'm totally biased here since I'm the only one really affected. But I agree with Deckie. If the teams are still in the league (albeit with new owners), why would the picks disappear from me and go back to them?
