Peter Drury is replacing Tyler at Sky. No word on how or if he’ll continue as NBC’s lead voice. With the shotgun wedding between the PGA Tour and LIV, does that clear the way for the return of Arlo White?
Arlo was calling some soccer for the first time in a long time this weekend ... so, probably so.

He’s back, part 2. Brendan Rodgers is back at Celtic, signing a 3 year contract. He won nearly 70% of his 169 matches in charge from 5/16 - 2/19, including back to back domestic trebles.

Gary O’Neil is out at Bournemouth. He took charge as caretaker after their first match of the season, a 9-0 drubbing by Liverpool. He picked up 13 of 33 points by the World Cup break and was given an 18 month contract. They finished 15th in the table.

By the time Rodgers left Celtic to go to Leicester it had all grown a bit stale ... kind of like what happened to him at the end of his tenure with the Foxes. His basic structures will still work but this Celtic side aren't really built to press in the way he normally does. They should be pretty adaptable, but it's gonna take a minute. I do wonder how Ange's Japanese contingent is gonna take to Rodgers' brand of bluster.

The consortium that bought Chelsea last year is buying Ligue 1 club Strasbourg. They’ll have close to 100% ownership and paid a reported €75 million.

Bournemouth hired Andoni Iraola as their new manager. He spent the previous 3 seasons at Rayo Vallecano in La Liga, getting them promoted in his first year and then 2 mid table finishes. He won less than 40% of his games over those 3 years. His contract expires on June 30. He was approached by Leeds in February but was not given permission to leave.

Bilbao man and a Bielsa disciple ... could be a good fit.

FIFA announced that the U.S. will host the expanded Club World Cup in June/July 2025. Exact dates and stadiums are TBD. The field expands to 32 teams for that competition. while formerly a smaller tournament where the continental club champions and host country compete, the 32 team field will see 12 teams from UEFA, 6 teams from South America, 4 each from CONCACAF, Asia and Africa, 1 from Oceania and the host country.

NBC hired Jon Champion for their Premier League coverage, while anlso announcing that Peter Drury will remain their lead announcer. Drury will probably call the late match on Saturday for both NBC and Sky, both of which are owned by Comcast. Champion will probably have the feature match on Sunday.

Roy Hodgson is staying on at Crystal Palace, signing a 1 year contract. He took over in March when Patrick Vieira was sacked. He led them to 11th in the table, picking up 18 points in the last 10 matches.

Speaking of Viera, he's been named manager at Strasbourg in France ... about a week after Chelsea's ownership group bought a majority position in the club.

They finished 15th in the table, but Ligue 1 relegated 4 clubs to get down to 18.

Makes sense that Forest Green would be the first to (on an interim basis at least) break that barrier ... since they are probably the least conventional club in the whole of association football.

Nottingham Forest defender Harry Toffolo has been charged with 375 breaches of FA betting rules. They are alleged to have happened between 2014-17 when he was at Norwich but on loan with Swindon Town, Peterborough United, Rotherham United and Scunthorpe United

That's WAY more breaches than Toney got charged with. Is there a bookie somewhere cutting deals with info on these guys?

Mike Dean is retiring. Again. He left the field last summer but spent last season as a dedicated VAR. He’s leaving to pursue media roles, perhaps his appearance in Ted Lasso gave him the bug.

ESPNs Fabrizio Romano reported that Fulham manager Marco Silva turned down a 2 year/$45 million contract offer to take over at Saudi club Al Ahli. That’s a lot for a guy that hasn’t won more than half his games since leaving Olympiacos in 2016.
