On Jimmy retiring, or whatever he's doing .... good on the guy for walking away if he wasn't enjoying himself. If there's anybody in hockey who can say he earned going out on his own terms (twice), it's Jim Rutherford. Yeah, I can't and won't defend some of his decisions down the decades, but the guy got results.

In all honesty the once mighty Penguins look almost past their expiration date and it might be a good time to call it quits. JR has like 3 Cups and has done just about everything an executive can do, go enjoy your retirement!

Its probably going to end up Pens vs. NYI for that last East division playoff spot, no wildcard to fall back on this year. Pens needs their goaltending/D to shape up.

If you're bored too have at it. Calling that trolling is a bit much though.
No offense ... I don't use the word trolling as a slur because I'm old.

But be aware ... bad spelling, misnomers and malaprops are among the core values of this board.

Golden Knights report at least 1 positive test on the coaching staff so they’re all out. GM Kelly McCrimmon will coach.

Jesse Granger, who covers Vegas for The Athletic, tweeted that he’s hearing their game against the Blues tonight is postponed.

An article on The Athletic by Josh Yohe and Rob Rossi says that Rutherford didn’t consider stepping down as GM until Tuesday. It was so sudden that he didn’t even discuss it with his wife. The article does point to some internal tensions. There is a belief around the league that Rutherford didn’t want to fire Jason Karmanos. He also pushed back on a move to bring in Dale Tallon in some capacity. The article does point out how thin the internal bench is. When JR took over, Jason Botterill, Tom Fitzgerald and Bill Guerin were associate/assistant GMs. All are running their own teams now. The team does have Craig Patrick and Eddie Johnston in some capacity, but Patrick is older than JR and hasn’t run a team since the Pens fired him in 2006. Eddie Johnston is 85.

Vegas v. Sharks in Glendale on 2/1 and 2/3 postponed. Alex Pietrangelo and 3 Vegas coaches are in the protocol.

Something to keep our eyes on; the Blackhawks cancelled practice at Fifth Third Arena today ahead of tomorrow’s game against Columbus. Chicago has DeBrincat, Boqvist and Wallmark in the protocol. The Canes are scheduled to play in Chicago on Tuesday.

Looks like all is clear with the Blackhawks, the morning skates have started and tonight’s game with Columbus is still on.

The Rangers don't really need much salary cap help so playing the taxi squad/recall game with DeAngelo doesn't buy them all that much. I can't imagine that anyone will claim him, he is way overpaid for what he provides.
