Nothing really earth shaking there, for me. Nobody really gives a crap about rally towels, most everyone wants to shop in a physical store and nobody's happy with the egress issues in the parking lots. That can't be news to anyone.

Looking increasingly likely that we'll face the Caps instead of the Flyers in the first round if we fail to catch the Rangers. The Flyers are fading and I wouldn't be shocked if they miss the playoffs altogether.

Caps are 6-3-1 in their last 10, Flyers are 3-5-2, tied at 82 points but the Caps have 2 games in hand. The Flyers might hold on though, it doesn’t look like anyone behind them is interested in catching them. The Red Wings are 2 points back with a game in hand but are the same 3-5-2 in their last 20, the Islanders are 5 points back with 2 games in hand but 2-7-1 in their last 10.

Flyers are not getting any good goaltending and Torts is crazy so I wouldn’t be shocked to see him start throwing 6’8” Russian monster Fedotov in the net. Imagine throwing Chara in goalie gear…that’s what this kid reminds me of.

Looking at the standings a second time and I’m not sure anyone wants that last spot. The Caps, Red Wings and Pens all lost in a shootout, the Flyers, Islanders, Devils and Slugs lost in regulation.

Nobody has wanted it for months. A ten game run anywhere in the 6-4 range has been molten lava hot for that buncha duds.

At the top of the standings, the Rangers have a 3 point lead over the Canes and Bruins and 5 points over the Panthers. Even if the Canes don’t catch the Rangers, they could still end up as the 2nd overall seed in the East, which would matter in the ECF if the Rangers lose either of their series. The Canes and Bruins are tied on points, but the Canes are +6 on the tiebreakers for regulation wins and regulation + OT wins.

I really thought the Panthers had the scent a few weeks ago when they finally passed Boston in the standings but they've been a distracted looking mess ever since. It's been a weird year at the top of the league with 6-7 teams separating from the rest after Christmas but none of them really running off enough of a sustained hot streak to break away from that small pack.

Teravainen is wearing a black jersey at practice today and working with the dmen. they don’t play until Thursday, so nothing is imminent, but I wonder if that means Fast is back in the lineup at Turbo’s expense?

Per Walt Ruff, these are the lines in practice. Chatfield isn’t on the ice, presumably TDA is with Orlov. Teravainen and Lemieux are in black jerseys as an extra d pairing but Turbo is still working with PP2.

Guentzel - Aho - Jarvis
Martinook - Kuznetsov - Necas
Svechnikov - Staal - Fast
Kotkaniemi - Drury - Noesen

I don't remember on what thread we were talking about it, but playoff games #1 and #2 (plus the $10.73 "Playoff Service fee") were charged for me on Saturday morning, so FYI to you Pay As We Play plan'ers.

And the email for STM presale hit my inbox at 1:00 this afternoon. I don’t know if the on sale times are assigned by priority, but my time is noon on Wednesday. And there was this little blurb.

Ticket availability is limited, and subject to availability and dynamic pricing. Additionally, there will be a (6) ticket limit per-game, per account.

The General public sale starts at noon on April 4

Mine too ... or it got charged at some point this weekend, at least. I think it was yesterday.

I ran into my ticket rep at the game on Thursday. He said that dynamic pricing was going to kick in pretty much straight away thanks to strong response from current STHers. That's one upside to them vulturing your credit card account every time there's a new set of games. At least we're locked in on the rate.

All potential playoff tickets showed up in my app, and they all say that the Canes are playing the Islanders, every home game every round. Maybe the folks running the app are the same crew that painted the 3 point lines in Portland.

Rangers and Panthers both lost last night, so the Canes remain 3 points behind the Rangers, both with 7 to play. The Panthers are 2 behind the Canes and Bruins, also with 7 to play. The Flyers picked up the loser point against the Isles last night, which saw the debut of Ivan Fedotov in goal, so they moved back into 3rd in the Metro, 1 point up on the Caps, who have 3 games in hand. Fedotov saved 19 of 21 shots he faced, coming in to start the 2nd period.

Just curious for any of you STH folks...what does a pair of round one tickets out the door look pricewise this year upstairs when you add everything up on fees and and what not? Let's say game one weekend game with the dynamic pricing thrown in...

I don’t think we get a discount on extras, the email said they were subject to dynamic pricing. Our only advantage is we have a 24 hour jump on everyone else.

Are you asking how much those might cost if those tickets made it to the general public? Fan Zone (Sections 308-320) 1st round playoff tix for full STMs are $40 each base price. I would guess those would be $60-80 each for the general public before taxes and fees and all that fun Ticketbastard nonsense. That would be a total guess on my part. As mentioned above, STMs no longer get extra playoff tickets at a discount. The only advantage we have is we get early access to buy them and I think we get a break on the fees.

With Scott Morrow now signed, as we start to think about how things look a few years down the road I'm definitely expecting there to be a lot of speculation about KK and how he fits into things down the road. I don't know how the Canes are feeling about KK, but I'm looking at 6 more years on the contract and wondering if the Canes are going to look to move on from KK and that contract. They could trade him of course, he would be a useful player for some teams. They could also think about buying him out while that cost would only be 1/3 of his AAV/Salary?

What would that look like? Well it would be an ugly 12 year buyout. However, the cap hit would be under $1 million per season and he would only get paid $835k (for each of 12 seasons) because he is under 25 years old. KK might end up getting scratched in this year's playoffs if everyone is healthy.
