2023-24 Canes Misc Thread

Jordan Staal is a Selke finalist, along with Sash Barkov and Auston Matthews. It’s his 3rd time as a finalist, the first with the Canes. Barkov is a finalist for the 3rd time in 4 years, having won in 2020-21 and finishing 3rd in 2021-22. Matthews is a first time finalist.
 
The league has set the start times of games 2 and 3 at 7:00. Still no start time for game 4 on Saturday. Dallas will be at Colorado for game 3 that night. ABC has NBA games at 3:30 and 8:30, so both games that day are on TNT. But the 3:30 NBA game involves the Dallas Mavericks, so I don’t think TNT would put the Stars on in the afternoon opposite the Mavs. We could end up with a matinee or they could go with us at 7 and Stars/Avs at 10.
 
No changes to the lines or pairings at practice today. Rod being Rod, there are no changes from the forward group that generated 8 even strength shots over the first 2 periods

Basically, one dude on each forward line needs to get his mess sorted and player better, based on Game 1. You can mix things up but that's still true.
 
Those guides are often the last thing to be updated. Normally they want the NY market in a different slot on the weekends, but hey ... programming ain't my job. A thing for which you should all be grateful, especially if you enjoy unscripted reality programs ... most of which I'd happily fire into the sun.

Somebody at some point is gonna have to draft and sign a left shot D. I saw several positive scouting blurbs on Nystrom, including at least one dude who was convinced he's NHL ready. With that small frame, he'll need to prove it in the A first.
 
Despite the contract, Nystrom is staying in Sweden for 1 more year.
