2023-24 NHL Misc. Thread

The Senators just shortened head coach DJ Smith’s leash considerably. They brought in noted bridge troll Jacques Martin as senior advisor to the coaching staff. His last head coaching job was with the Habs, where he was fired 32 games into the 2012-13 season. After that, he spent 5 seasons as an assistant in Pittsburgh and 1 with the Rangers in 2020-21.
Lololol. That's NHL for "we're really serious this time, coach." Classic move. Clown move, but classic.

I do know why they think the same people who didn’t get it done repeatedly in other places would help. But maybe it’s the Tepper idea. Bring him in as an adviser so you know at least one thing to not do.

Looks like it's worthy of a 1 seaaon suspension if that was intentional. But it probably wasn't.
He’s the same guy that was suspended for 27 games, reduced to 18 on appeal, for domestic violence. This is not a good guy and he deserves zero benefit of the doubt.

Watson has been unhinged all season. Not sure what's going on with that dude, but it can't be good. His whole career, Watson has wildly swung between deranged loon and fairly basic 4th line thug, which makes me suspect he's got some stuff going on off the ice ... speculation is pointless, but I hope he gets some help at some point.

The Blues traded dman Robert Bortuzzo to the Islanders for a 2024 7th rounder. They have Adam Pelech on LTIR with what appeared to be a left wrist injury. Bortuzzo has only played 4 games for the Blues this season.

The Blues basically gave away Bortuzzo and STILL robbed the Isles. He's been cooked for 3 or 4 years.

What a freaking debacle ... unsurprising since the NHL can't seem to make up its mind whether or not it's a bad thing when guys get hit in the head with a stick.
