2023-24 NHL Misc. Thread

The timing gave them the opening. That first tilt kicked off straight away, but the other guys were either too busy posturing or choosing a dance partner to engage as quick as Lazar and Vesey. That gave the refs the chance to book everybody else as secondary participants. Real Middle School Assistant Principal vibes.
 
Add in the BS screaming back and forth between Lavy and Green afterwards ... you both knew exactly what you were doing ... and EVERYBODY got to participate in the school musical this year. What an absolute joke.
 
Rempe is looking more and more like the cement head we thought he was...the cheap shots, head shots etc along with the fighting in a very short tenure is not a great look when some Rags media and fans said the kid can actually play...

Props to the NHL heavyweights so far that have made the kid accountable for his actions.
 
As much as Rempe should be held accountable, all of this unnecessarily incrementally adds to potential CTE issues down the road. I know guys at that age are indestructible and cannot imagine what life might be like when they’re my age. But that’s exactly why we need adults in the room. There should be serious discipline for crap like this against the players as well as the team. Don’t get me wrong, this stuff is a hoot when you’re watching it go down at the arena. But that doesn’t mean we need to have it happen. <\sopabox>
 
The Slugs are still mathematically viable and have won two straight... Maybe Skinner can finally make the postseason...

But they’re 2 points behind the Pens and have played 1 more game. The Pens are surging, 6-2-2 in their last 10, 2 points behind the Flyers (2-5-3 in their last 10) for WC2 with a game in hand, 2 points behind the Islanders (who have won 3 straight but still just 5-5 in their last 10) in 3rd, 1 point behind the Caps, losers of 5 straight.

It's a 96-97 Whalers chance of making it, but they still have a chance.
 
Isles and Pens surging by playing ... OK. That's the Metro this season in a nutshell. Two good teams and whatever the heck else.

Penguins choke up a 3 goal lead to the Lightning, then get the game winner from Michael Bunting late in the 3rd. They also had to survive a late Lightning PP with an empty net. Pens move into WC2, tied with the Isles for 3rd in the division with 1 more game played.

Earlier in the 3rd, ref Steve Kozari and Bolts dman Haydn Fleury collided at center ice. Fleury skated off but didn’t return, Kozari briefly lost consciousness and was stretchered off He was moving his extremities and communicating with the trainers and medical personnel.

Outside of the Fleury-Kozari collision, that was one hell of an entertaining game!

Caps get the loser point against the Sens and move ahead of the Flyers, tied on points but fewer games played.

It's just so frustrating ... they have EVERYTHING they need in terms of built and natural resources in Glendale. It's just sitting there. Waiting for a competent, fully engaged owner.
