Getting that elite guy would make these fillers slot in on the roster nicely.

I'd be happy with Carlsson, but the consensus is that Michkov, while riskier and smaller, has a higher ceiling.

Imagine the drama, Hughes calls "timeout" when we're on the clock - or is that only in the NFL draft - keeps the pick, and then announces that we are tres fier to select David Reinbacher or Dalibor Dvorsky.

He's going to come over, they all do, why would he be any different?

It's worth the risk. If Michkov comes to the NHL he will be a superstar who is exponentially better than anyone else the Habs would likely be able to draft at 5. If he doesn't come he's still better than taking a guy who will likely become a second liner who never moves the needle. Swing for the fences. Draft the generational talent. Don't be a Bergevin.
