Point still stands, Michkov is no worse than the fourth best and likely second best. This has been shown in article after article from real pros. Pointing to this as reason to not take him is beyond stupid and you should turn in your Habs card.

legit question, what are his military obligations for Mother Russia? Are athletes exempt? If he can be drafted and sent to the front, that adds one more risk factor. If exempt, no worry a Zelenskyy mercenary will ruin our cup chances.

The fact you ask what his "military obligations" are in Russia, a country where those obligations are written on toilet paper and changed on a whim, tells me you can't be serious asking it. Perhaps you didn't think it through or perhaps you were laying a trap for Krusty or me, either way its not a serious question to be answered.

The Habs brand doesn't need to be sullied by being affiliated with fascists. Poehling's support of Trump is likely born of stupidity rather than an actual affinity for (or knowledge of) fascism but the end result is the same. It reflects badly on the brand. Same goes for Russian fascists currently oppressing the Ukraine. You don't chase after players who are sullied by those associations. You avoid them whenever possible. In Michkov's case he may or may not be pro-Putin but I doubt he has him in his social media profile pic like Ovi does. My opposition to drafting him has nothing to do with him being Russian (unless I find out later that he supports the war) but it does have everything to do with the likelihood that we could get him to Montreal if we drafted him. Until that mess is sorted out it's a risk. 40 odd years ago, Serge Savard spent a late round pick on Vladislav Tretiak, just in case the situation ever occurred where he might be granted permission to emigrate from the USSR. But he didn't spend a top 5 draft pick on that chance.
