Would be the dumbest move to not draft a talent like that if you get the chance. Anything can change it’s politics and contracts, worry about it later

After months of reviewing the Bettman files, and factoring in PR, what owners he has met in person and watched games with since October, I have come to the conspiratorial conclusion that we are winning now because we know he is already going to ensure we will get 1st overall.
In my best high pitched left wing conspiracy voice, bear with me:
a) It serves the league no purpose to have Bedard go to Columbus as it is not a major media market. It would be like Lebron James playing in Salt Lake City or Charlotte.
b) He cannot reward the Blackhawks for their deliberately throwing the season and after the Beach issue. He said no team is tanking so why would he reward one that is throwing games.
c) Molson has been a loyal footsoldier in the NHL for the longest time, supported a salary cap that fucked us over, played a lot without fans and lost a ton. He never bitches about how the refs fuck us in the ass time and time again. He also has supported bad franchises with massive amounts of equalization welfare despite being a high tax franchise.
d) Arizona is already getting Matthews in 2024 so no need for Bedard.
e) Anaheim has enough stars.
f) Cannots have young stars who already want out, why throw another in who will want out in 3 years. They also treated Boudreau badly and Bettman likes Boudreau.
g) San Jose is a possibility but it is almost too liberal a city for Bettman.
h) Bedard has a french name and his dad was a fan.
Add a to h and it adds up to Bedard being ours in October.
