2023 Draft and UFA Thread

I was thinking more of the Sandin type trade ( not the player )

2-3 year on your roster and in and out of your lineup looking for a role
 
A lot of talent in Turcotte but very injury prone. Would have to be a relatively cheap get.

In this case because it is Pierre mcquire saying it... I'm inclined to believe the opposite.

Also the thing with guys like bedard is people start manufacturing issues with their game. In bedards case he seems to just be rising.

I'd take a flyer on Turcotte for sure, but I don't have high hopes for him anymore.

I haven't been more wrong a player than I have been with Turcotte. I really thought he could be one of the very rare Bergeron/Barkov/O'Reilly types. Elite defensively and awesome offensively, and just a fucking headache to play against.

He's been anything but.

He needs a change. Talent is there. Injuries have held him back 3 years. On the cheap? I give him to Marty to see if there's something still there.
 
What record do we figure we need to get to bottom 4 for the rest of our games? I think we are going to go 5-14, but I don’t think that will be good enough.
 
We would need some the other dogs to play just under 500. At a minimum I think we move up one spot in ping pong lottery because the western conference dogs will play each other and somebody has to win.

At best, we will get passed by 2-3 teams. I cannot see Columbus making up 11 points on us over 20 games. I always had us ending with about 65 points. That would require some teams to get 16 and Columbus to get 20. Unlikely. Cannots probably stay ahead of us given their schedule. Maybe Coyotes pass us as they are only 4 behind and one of San Jose/Anaheim.

I think Habs will have a top-3 pick wrapped up within 2.5 weeks. The East hasn’t shown any separation for wild card teams and will be competitive down to the wire, while West is all but wrapped up - which means they’ll be resting players and Van, Az, Ana, SJS Chi will face weaker lineups

Which is what McGuire said GMs were telling him last few weeks. Scouts are apparently very disappointed with the lack of development of many of this draft class from their 16yr old season to present.

It’s not out of the realm of possibility, I suppose, that Covid had a significant impact on a generation (re: 5-7 year window) of developing prospects

Who knows..only time will tell
