2023 Draft and UFA Thread

After having watched Will Smith in person, he’s a very good prospect. But I would take his stats this season with a large grain of salt. His teammates are the seventeen other best 17 and 18 year old American hockey players. That helps to pad your numbers a little.

If we fall to 6-7 , I take Barlow without hesitation

If Smith is not an upgrade over Nick move on

Comments by some talking heads I recently heard, not sure if legit:

Moore > Smith

Barlow may be approaching ceiling faster than others, growth might be limited

Moore is the more explosive/dynamic skater but Smith is better with the puck from what I saw.

Barlow is a fucken beast , Brady Tkachuk with a better shot and wheels

Habs need another legit scorer to go with Cole or an upgrade on Nick , doable with our first

Team can gamble or trade Florida`s pick

Benson is 5'10" and barely 160lbs. I doubt he's going to be much of a beast at the NHL level like Brady Tkachuk, who's 6'4" and 210lbs.

Who cares, Slaf is a beast apparently too and doesn’t look like a top line player. Just go with the actual best player regardless of size or position or recency bias
BPA is fine , but if the gap is minimal fill your need

How many small guys do you want in a lineup

Cole, Benson, RHP, Farrell , Gally ......too many

Ya, that would be a crappy reason to have passed up on Cooley though if we just went with Slaf for size.

Yeah when people want nothing but I smaller players, my reaction is no team has ever won with an entire lineup of 5'9 behemoths
