2023 Draft and UFA Thread

Not saying TJ Tucker's take is incorrect however it is TJ Tucker's take.

We all knew they were leaning on the players.

Someone said it had a Svoboda feel and it does. Right now every NHL team is contacting their sources in Russia to first see the kid's intent and second to see if they can get him out.

This is likely why his father was killed, he likely said something to the effect of screw that.

Habs have to be 100% certain of his availability to take him in the top 5-7

Not that it matters, but I tend to think the Michkovs ran afoul with the mafia (and I admit it’s hard to tell them apart from government or business officials.)

If a state official was doing this, they just would have condemned him with fake tax evasion or fraud charges and plunked him in a work camp. But to kill him seems to be borne of a lack of “legal” options.

But who knows. It’s Mad Max Thunder Dome over there. And you never really know who or what you’re dealing with.

Putin wants to reinstate the Iron Curtain so any team that drafts a Russian will have as much of a chance of seeing that Russian play NHL hockey as the Habs did when they drafter Vladislav Tretiak. Pretend that Russian players don't exist because for drafting purposes they no longer do.

Nothing is certain. Would be a dream they get him at 17 (leafs need to do their part).

Bedard / Fantilli and Michkov. Yes please.
Certain has to be his release without issues , 3 years is not a big deal if thats the case .

hard to predict his future is

In 2017, had you stated that people would overreact to a virus with a 99.5% survival rate and that people would end up walking around outside in masks, I would have laughed in your face. At this point, I would assume he will not be available but who knows, once Zelensky sues for peace, Russia might open up again. However, it is a big risk to take the 5'8 Russian

If he wants to come to the NHL I don't worry about it that much. Lots can change in 3 years. Considering we have drafted kk and chuk in the top 5 we can see that risk exists everywhere in the draft.

as you are his guru re all things Leaf, he needs a leader to get him to the front, if you sign up and go with him, leading him in the trenches, showing him the ways of the world, he will go,,, he will even be the guy running behind you to pick up your gun after you are killed
I'm fine with sending Tavares there as his platoon leader.

It was the underreaction and contrarian disobedience that made things unnecessarily hard.

Massive risk Habs cant take in the 5-7 range

With Florida`s pick absolutely , just like Caps did with the Russian last year in round 1

you stated this was the fight of the century, and that we all should be willing to die for democracy (or whatever appears to be democracy in Ukraine), you first,,,
I'm too old to serve. I'd be 4-F just based on my eyesight alone even if I was of age. Gen Z is going to inherit the world from us anyway so they need to fight for it. Us Gen Xers and boomers are just running out the clock at this point.

well then I guess my son will not have to die because he will only go if you go
