2023 Draft and UFA Thread

I know it’s kinda counterintuitive because the highest weighing we have is # 6, but our expected pick is still #5 because of the weight scheme of the other teams.
Having seen Will Smith play in person, albeit one little game against Muskegon, I’m not super-excited about him but . . . he definitely has great hands and hockey IQ. His skating speed is meh but that’s not everything obviously. And he also won’t have to fight in a war in Ukraine so I guess that’s a positive too.

After watching the WU18 tourney, Eiserman , Moore , Perrault and Leonard looked better

according to Wehave, he should volunteer to fight for democracy,,,

I’m confused, isn’t it what the pick % is supposed to represent?

That would be exactly the case if we were just drawing one ping pong with those weights and assigning Montreal to a round as if there were no other teams in the league. But since our outcome also depends on their weightings (e.g. Zona’s largest weighting is 7), that does not hold.

Unrelated to the draft, but this is big news in the world of Junior A hockey.

The BCHL, which is the top feeder league in Canada for players headed to the NCAA, is becoming independent from Hockey Canada.
