2024-25 Canes Miscellaneous Thread

Unless he flew out last night, there aren’t any flights that would get him to Vancouver in time for practice, so if Jorge is in goal for the morning skate, we’ll know which goalie is sick/injured. The Wolves didn’t play yesterday but do play tomorrow at 11 am. If Khazheyev is recalled from Norfolk, it could be a longer stay.

Ugh. It's too early in the season for this stuff. Maybe one of the keepers just got sick or something.

We’ll find out more after practice, but it’s Freddie on the shelf. Kochetkov and Jorge are on the ice.

Great. Here we go again
RBA said Freddie came up “a little gimpy after the game”. Cory Lavalette says Martin was recalled on an emergency basis, so he doesn’t have to be waived to be sent back unless he plays in 10 games. The Canes don’t have another back to back until 11/16-17 and basically play every other day until then. So Kochetkov could get a long run in goal.

The Canes plane broke down after the Seattle game so they had to bus to Vancouver. No pribelm except the post-game meal was on the plane. Brent Burns and the McDonald’s app to the rescue. One problem, the McDonald’s was in Everett and the store was closed, but the drive thru was open. Can’t walk through the drive thru so he got a guy to drive him through.

There's your Tripp drinking game story of the night. Drink once for each mention, twice if Tripper makes a joke about it during play.

Sportico is out with their list of estimated NHL franchise values. The Canes are 25th at $1.29 billion. Down 1 spit but a 32% increase from last year. Dundon paid $420 million for 52% in 2018, an indicated franchise value of just over $800 million.

The Leafs top the list at $3.66 billion, followed by the Rangers, Habs, Bruins and Kings (?) in the top 5. The Blackhawks dropped 2 spots to 6th. The Jackets are at the bottom, valued at $1.06 billion. Utah jumped the most, up 4 spots with a 78% increase (I wonder why?). All of the teams increased in value from last year, the Jets had the smallest increase at 19%. The Bruins and Oilers also jumped at least 50%

Dundon has done well in 6 years on that overall value! Thankfully he's still a young guy in the NHL owner ranks and hopefully here for the long haul!
