There's some resistance to the 40 story exemption, but otherwise this has already been basically blessed by staff and the council's zoning committee. Note that I'm not sure I've seen anything that would indicate that the developers would actually build out any 40 story buildings. That's just a height cap so they can go above the 12 story limit and avoid any arbitrary restriction in between.

The Isles are the hottest of the teams chasing that last wildcard slot. Hottest being relative of course. They've won 4 of their last 10, while the rest have won 3. It really does seem like nobody wants that spot, but I think in reality it's just that all of those teams have obvious flaws and are playing like teams like that play. This is basically a repeat of the race for the 8th spot we saw last year, with different teams. Washington got the spot but they more of less just bumbled less than the rest down the stretch. At this stage, you simply cannot count out the Rangers and Islanders simply because they have the goalies most likely to get white hot for a week or two. And that would be more than enough.
They shouldn't. They actually have a full compliment of picks this year and next and 100% should be looking to reload their prospect pool. And if they deal away either of their two first rounders in 26, their fans should revolt ... as opposed to just being revolting. That draft is setting up to be silly deep, and they haven't drafted a real impact player since McAvoy
They drafted Trent Frederic and Ryan Lindgren in the same year as McAvoy. Lindgren was traded to the Rangers in the Rick Nash deal. They drafted Swayman the year after McAvoy. But yeah, woof.
And as Mike Commodore is fond of pointing out, Lohrei is only 4 shots off the lead at The Masters. He’s at -34, alone in 3rd behind Bertuzzi and Bedard, tied at the top.
