2024-25 Hurricanes Prospects and Minors Thread

Yeah, that was the unique situation I mentioned. And Legault fits the same situation, really. Without Skyler playing at Quinnipiac, I doubt either of those guys are in Carolina's system. And you never know, somebody might bloom late on a team that Carolina is already scouting or whatever. They took a run at Nadeau's brother, as I recall.

And yeah, before that was Priskie, who was a bit of a dud, especially when you consider the hype. And the thing is, because undrafted college guys who are good enough to play AHL or better right away are few and far between, they're expensive to sign. And the hit rate on those guys is awfully low.

Dominik Badinka’s season in Sweden is over. He’s already under contract, he could join Chicago shortly.

And the Wolves can clinch a playoff spot today with a point against Coachella Valley.

If Badinka is healthy, they may as well bring him over for some AHL exposure. That's the next logical step for him anyway.

Canes traded Lucas Mercuri’a rights to Tampa for a 2025 6th rounder
Tampa are freaking pipeline vultures, man. They don't have any prospects to speak of so when word gets out that another team is having trouble signing a guy they're Johnny on the spot with the lowball offer. Hey, it's a way to get some guys in the system without actually having to draft.

Here's hoping they don't. The quicker they're done, the less head shots Nikishin is subjected to. That league has gotten out of hand.
The first 2 games were on the road for St. Pete and were close contests. One went to OT.

Jayden Perron has entered the transfer portal. He has 21 goals, 16 assists in 70 games at North Dakota.

They have a new coach at NoDak, right*? That often triggered a lot of player movement, even before the portal days.

* ... yup. A quick search indicates that they elevated a guy who has been an assistant for over a decade. That also reminded me that North Dakota is one of the States that passed one of those transparency acts that requires schools to publish a list of finalists for high profile jobs. Sucks to be the guy who doesn't get a coaching gig and has to go back to work the next day and act like he wants to be there.

Perron’s teammate Sacha Boisvert, the NCHC rookie of the year, is transferring to Boston University

SMH - why aren’t they going to Wisconsin? Makes no sense going to these lesser schools.

Wisconsin finished 6th in the 7 team conference, only better than dreadful Notre Dame. They were 7-16-1 in the conference. But the Wisconsin women‘s team won their 8th National Championship.

Did you catch a clip of the penalty shot to tie that game with less than 20 seconds left in the third? Holy crap what a beauty that was.
