For you & me, it isn't. For 99.9% of fans it isn't. I would have taken Michkov last year & ran home laughing.I mean, I get the optics of 1st round vs later, but why are Russians suddenly bad business for the hockey team? Let’s say we get a 50 goals RW Russian, are people going to boycott the team because of that? Explain it to me like I’m 8 years old because I definitely don’t understand.
However, for cowards like Molson & business entities running the organization, who look at the war in Ukraine and PR ramifications that come with it, they probably don't want the headlines associated with Michkov's passport. It's the same reason Russia's been barred from international hockey competitions and some of their athletes lost their jobs. A lot of people aren't interested in being associated with Russians right now.
