For you & me, it isn't. For 99.9% of fans it isn't. I would have taken Michkov last year & ran home laughing.

However, for cowards like Molson & business entities running the organization, who look at the war in Ukraine and PR ramifications that come with it, they probably don't want the headlines associated with Michkov's passport. It's the same reason Russia's been barred from international hockey competitions and some of their athletes lost their jobs. A lot of people aren't interested in being associated with Russians right now.

Russian and Belarusian athletes are competing all over the world, just without a flag next to their names. Nobody blames them for Putin’s craziness, and nobody cares if they compete.
 
I think there’s a material difference between international competitions that involve state sponsored national sporting federations and individual athletes who sign private employment contracts in North America and Europe. If they didn’t want to pick Michkov, it should not have been about Russia’s violation of international law and the 10,000+ civilian deaths. But the sports federations? Fuck them.

Because they are fascist oppressors trying to subjugate their neighbors. Why shouldn't they be hated for that? You of all people should since it will be your son dying on the steppe should the situation further deteriorate. If I were you, I'd be telling everyone I met to support more military aid for the Ukrainians so that we don't have to do any fighting ourselves.

As for the league, if the NHL wasn't run by chickenshits who only care about money, Ovechkin would have been banned from playing 2 years ago.

I don't think their non-selection of Michkov had anything to do with the war and everything to do with the organization's general dislike and distrust of Russian players. And Michkov's off ice demeanor and comportment doesn't give the warm fuzzies to a buttoned-down organization like the Habs. Michkov isn't just too Russian, he's too Subban. If he was Russian like Markov and pretended to be a deaf-mute, they might have selected him. But they don't want another PK.

never saw the show and my son isn't a Nazi, so he won't do that, anyway he has more important things to do , like his spring/summer adult league team, his baseball team, and going for fastfood, he is too busy to fight in a foreign war

It's on Prime. It's well worth your time to watch and it was all filmed in the Lower Mainland so you can spend the entire series going "Hey1 I've been there!"

And don't worry. If Ukrainian aid gets cut off it won't be a "foreign war" much longer. Saskatchewan also has a steppe suitable for killing Russians on.
