There won't be a Russian in the top five of their list. This is a Molson/Political thing that I've confirmed through my grapevine. Doesn't matter if Demidov is better, they'll take someone else. After Celebrini, I’d probably rank the forwards Demidov, Lindstrom, Catton, Eiserman, Iginla in terms of personal interest.
But I suspect the Habs draft list might be Lindstrom, Demidov, Eiserman, Iginla.
I’ll take your word for it, not sure I understand why however. There won't be a Russian in the top five of their list. This is a Molson/Political thing that I've confirmed through my grapevine. Doesn't matter if Demidov is better, they'll take someone else.
Do you understand why the GM must be French or speak French? Do you understand why they took LeBlanc over Kreider?I’ll take your word for it, not sure I understand why however.
I understand the first two even if I don’t agree with it. Similarly I don’t understand how drafting a Russian would have any impact on sales. 1) We’ve been drafting Russians , even last year 2) Montreal, team and fans, always had a good relationship with Russian players, see Kovalev and Markov. Or even Kovalchuk.Do you understand why the GM must be French or speak French? Do you understand why they took LeBlanc over Kreider?
Anything that could effect sales of anything Molson does is a no go. Until this war is over you won't see it happen.
They'll take a risk in later rounds, they won't use a top pick for one rn. Like ggpx said more succinctly, optics. But they took two later in the draft. And there appears to have been some off ice weirdness with Michkov?
I mean, I get the optics of 1st round vs later, but why are Russians suddenly bad business for the hockey team? Let’s say we get a 50 goals RW Russian, are people going to boycott the team because of that? Explain it to me like I’m 8 years old because I definitely don’t understand. It's a question of optics.
Compare the amount of attention Reinbacher got with what every other prospect drafted last year received. Besides Fowler, there's almost no mention of any of 'em. Reinbacher instantly became the face of our prospects with year-round coverage and attention. I don't think higher ups want that next "face" to be a Russian.
I think its more KHL issues and riskI mean, I get the optics of 1st round vs later, but why are Russians suddenly bad business for the hockey team? Is that it? From hearing Habsy and GGpX it sounds deeper than that. Demidov is only signed for one more season.I think its more KHL issues and risk
Michkov didnt interview with the Habs and might not come over for 4-5 years
Russians typically cause more headaches than Euros and North Americans
All their businesses. They don't give a shit about hockey. You keep thinking about this in a hockey sense when it's not about hockey.I mean, I get the optics of 1st round vs later, but why are Russians suddenly bad business for the hockey team? And they will still look for late round diamonds, they won't use their first on one. They drafted Russians last year.
All things equal I am not taking a Russian over anyone elseIs that it? From hearing Habsy and GGpX it sounds deeper than that. Demidov is only signed for one more season.
I always knew Geoff was an idiot. And they will still look for late round diamonds, they won't use their first on one.
It's the difference between someone trying to build something and someone trying not to lose something.I always knew Geoff was an idiot.
What will be lost by drafting Demidov? It's the difference between someone trying to build something and someone trying not to lose something.
