might be a better 2 way more complete player but not sure on offensive productionIginla’s game might end up translating better in the NHL than Catton’s.

Necas is 25 looking for his bag as an RFA , no interest for meNo idea whether it'd be feasible or not, but... A trade of Guhle+ for Necas.
Guhle and our pick (not top 5 ) for FantilliNo idea whether it'd be feasible or not, but... A trade of Guhle+ for Necas.
You then simply dangle the pick for a young ELC top-6 asset - if Eiserman is on the board can’t see HuGo pass on him, unless there are significant red flags - character, work ethic etc. He’s a Boston kid they will be better informed than any other org on Eiserman IMOThe doomsday scenario for us would be if we're picking seventh, and three or four of the top six picks are forwards (Celebrini, Demidov, Lindstrom, Catton) and Levshunov & Parekh are taken.
At that point, I'd just take Eiserman and hope he'll get his ass in gear with other things than just goal scoring. Short of that, desperately try to trade down 4-5 spots and see if I can get a mid 2nd round pick out of it.
Yeah, he was very clear about that. They’re drafting a forward. You then simply dangle the pick for a young ELC top-6 asset - if Eiserman is on the board can’t see HuGo pass on him, unless there are significant red flags - character, work ethic etc. He’s a Boston kid they will be better informed than any other org on Eiserman IMO
Hughes was very blunt the other day, Habs are picking for need with their 1st rounder which clearly is a top-6 F
Not sure about the strategy of announcing to the world we're drafting a forward though.Yeah, he was very clear about that. They’re drafting a forward.
The other way to look at it, advertising…if you want a top-10 pick I (Hughes) want a young top-6 NHL ready FNot sure about the strategy of announcing to the world we're drafting a forward though.
What difference does it really make? NHL teams don’t trade high first round picks so telegraphing your pick is irrelevant. Not sure about the strategy of announcing to the world we're drafting a forward though.

Sal didn’t say he thought it was deliberate. And as I said, NHL teams rarely, if ever, trade high picks so this is all nonsense. The Habs are drafting a forward with any of picks 1,2, 7-9.Information is always valuable. It could prompt a trade by an another team to jump ahead of you that could have unintended consequences.
So, they showed their hand a bit, but I agree with Sal that it was deliberate. It looks like a contingent benchmark. There’s still a lot of wiggle room and variables, so they could choose to go into a very different direction if the circumstances warrant.
100%, as evidenced by the disastrous McDonagh and Sergachev trades.I’d be wary of moving Guhle. He was given the shut down role in recent games against Pasternak, MacKinnon, Matthews and McDingDong and acquitted himself very well.
The public advertising was deliberate - intention to draft a top-6 player or trade for one is legitSal didn’t say he thought it was deliberate. And as I said, NHL teams rarely, if ever, trade high picks so this is all nonsense. The Habs are drafting a forward with any of picks 1,2, 7-9.
please tell me a smart person like you doesn't pay McNagg any heed..McCagg thinks that Catton will not be drafted top 10. This year’s Benson.

I too am wary but if we're getting Fantilli in return I do that trade in a heartbeat.I’d be wary of moving Guhle. He was given the shut down role in recent games against Pasternak, MacKinnon, Matthews and McDingDong and acquitted himself very well.
