2024 Draft

Before the season, in most lists, there were two forwards in lottery (Celebrini & Eiserman) with possibly one other in the top 10 (Demidov), while the remaining players were nearly all d-men.

Fast forward four months, now it looks like the top-10 should be roughly 50/50.

Might end up not being the worst of years for teams like us that need a forward.

I'm good with yet another top D prospect. I'm a firm believer that you can never have enough grade A defense prospects.

I get what you mean, but there's a finite amount of place for d-men. (12f vs 6d)

We've got half of our slots pretty much assured for the next decade with Guhle, Reinbacher & Hutson, with 4 to maybe 6 prospects that might fill up one or two more of the 6 slots. But at the forward position, it's a barren wasteland. Our best forward prospect, Joshua Roy, is projected as a third line winger. We have literally nobody of note besides coming in the future.

If we're drafting 6-10 it'll likely be a D unless the shittier teams go D. I don't see the top forwards falling.

Also, there are always prospects that surprise.

Didn't read anything about him, but Berkly Catton looks like another interesting forward.

51 points in 32 games in the WHL.

ya I mentioned him earlier in this thread. If we draft around 10th, looks like the best choice, damn we can't draft another Dman.

The Habs are the only shitty team that takes stay-at-home defensemen over high scoring forwards. That's why they stay shitty while other shitty teams draft difference-making offensive forwards and improve.

Remember that time we took Cam York over Cole Caufield?

el oh el!

I hate to break it to you but it's becoming apparent with each passing day that Cole Caufield isn't going to be a 40 goal scorer in the NHL. He's going to be a one-dimensional 20 goal scorer. This type of player isn't moving any needles for us in the long run.

Doesn't quite fit the narrative, does it?
We aren't talking about mid round and late round picks. We had a top 5 pick last summer and we drafted a defenseman who isn't even considered to have a top pairing ceiling and mediocre offensive potential instead of a pure goal scorer who could be more prolific than Bedard.

Ahhh, your hockey knowledge is exactly like your political trolling: Full of holes and ignorance as you diligently masturbate in front of your bathroom mirror to your swastika tattoo.

If there's one person here that follows prospects here, it's me. You couldn't be further from the truth if you tried.

Like I said in the other thread that you rambled on about, cool story bro

Caufield isn't a prospect. He is what he is, a one-dimensional player who can score if given the appropriate amount of time and space, which of course he won't get very often once the rest of the league catches on to the fact that he has no other tools. He's Jean-Francois Sauve 2.0.
