2024 Draft

There are obviously exceptions but scouting today seems much more "accurate" that it was when Kilger was drafted, especially in the first couple of rounds. Maybe it's because of the use of analytics, and personality tests, etc., and kids generally train better today on and off the ice, but there just don't seem to be as many "busts" anymore in the first 15 picks or so as there were before. And yes, I know we drafted KK and Chucky at no. 3, relatively recently . . . but that was by a different administration that I think went a little more on "gut feeling" than the current one.
There is almost always a bust in the top 5 every year. It’s an interesting exercise to try to predict who that might be.

For fun I just clicked on 2015 draft. No busts until the bruins at 13 (Zboril). While Aho was a second rounder

2011
No busts until 11th.

Trochek, Johnny hockey, palat (4th last pick), etc taken later rounds

That was my point. Scouting has gotten much better over the years. Teams just have/use more tools that are available to them . . . except for MB and Timmins.

My Rose Moment du Jour...

There's a scenario where Montreal and Anaheim flip firsts in a bigger deal involving Zegras and more from Montreal, maybe multiple D. Anaheim then drops to five and gets the guy they want anyway.

Likely cost Winnipeg pick too

No.

Lindstrom as the weak link in the top five is a high probability. I do think that HuGo will do their diligence like with Slafkovsky.
