2024 NHL Playoffs Thread

I think the Leafs will do the Leafy thing in Game 7 and blow it. The Bruins will save face and be golfing a week later when Florida fits them for clown suits in 4 straight.

And Pasternak is completely invisible. Even Marchand is barely involved in the play anymore. The rest of the lineup is as think as can be.
In hindsight, Pastrnak had a very Taylor Hall-ian circa 2017-2018 season. Almost has twice as many points as the second best forward on his team, managed to drag an otherwise really bad team to the playoffs before an unceremonious first round exit.

Bawstun's centerline is Coyle, Zacha, Geekie and Boqvist. "Hey, GGpX, why can't Bawstun generate any offense?"

I dunno... couldn't tell you...

Bruins defence beyond McAvoy and Lohrei has little mobility. Shattenkirk is an afterthought now. And Lindholm-I'm not impressed with him. Always heard he was good.
I like Lindholm a lot, but he hasn't been good. I can't help but think he's playing injured.

He's an unspectacular, but extremely steady player. He just looks like he's a step behind on everything.

Toronto's defense reminds me of our defense in 2021. Not overly good, but they're big as shit and they're slamming the opponents into the boards every single chance they get.

The big Russian, Benoit, Edmundsson, McCabe. They lay into the Bawstun forwards any chance they get.

Bruins will come out flying. It'll come down to goaltending. Not sure if Woll can be that good 3 games in a row. I want the Leafs to lose, but won't be disappointed if the paper tiger Bruins get booted. Especially considering that cringe/gag-worthy pre-game ceremony they held at our expense earlier this year. One of the most classless, pathetic displays of insecurity I've seen from a pro hockey club. Doesn't surprise me considering that goof Neely is in charge.

1-Cup in 52 years, despite missing playoffs only a handful of times and being top 1/3 tier regular season team in the NHL during that span

Like previous-generation Habs teams, the Bruins have always had an aura that has allowed them to get the most out of players, I think. The team's achievement level often exceeds its talent level. But the last couple of games it sure seems like it is playing only to its talent level. That's where there's a problem, because as you point out there isn't a lot of it beyond 3-4 guys.

The Panthers are going to destroy either team in the next round. Destroy.
That's the big thing that everyone in Leafs Nation is forgetting. It's very easy to get tunnel vision and obsess over this series, especially last night when it was literally the only game on the schedule. But what we need to remember is that these are easily the two worst teams still alive in these playoffs (although Nashville could be in that group too) The outcome of Game 7 is completely irrelevant because of the Florida Panthers. One of either the Bruins or Leafs will be teeing off Sunday morning. The other will be teeing off about a week later. Tomorrow night will be the end of the line for one team and the "basically the Stanley Cup" for the other.
