2024 NHL Playoffs Thread

This series is making me wonder about what this team's drafting philosophy should be.

On paper, and based on what I saw against Las Vegas & Colorado, Dallas should be clearly the better team. They haven't been so far, and Deadmonton has been physically bullying Dallas.

I don't think we can draft either Catton or Demidov the way the roster is presently constructed. Only way I can make an argument to draft one of them: If we trade Caufield. I don't think Caufield would have a chance in hell to stand out in either the Eastern or Western conference.

Or trade Newhook. We’re not in a position to turn down talent. Yes we need size but we also need talent. I think he’ll worry about size when generating offense is no longer an issue.

Newhook est dans la bonne chaise if he’s on the 2nd or (especially) 3rd line. It’s Caufield on the top line that might not work.

If you want to “expect the unexpected” with a bigly trade, he might be our main trading chip.

Habs need skill and deal with the grit if and or when they are contenders down the road

Agreed you cant have a small top 6 but Habs need to make the payoffs first , then roster tinker

Easier to trade skill for grit at some point , cant teach high end skill.

Watching Nurse play a dynamite last two periods must infuriate Oiler fans even more. This sort of game from Nurse is what I imagine management thought they were going to get for all that money. Then it disappears, until when no one knows.

If Oilers win the Cup, all will be forgiven with Nurse and Skinner. They will walk in Edmonton forever as special. And that's how it should be.
