And I think it's more that Vegas is hot for him than Marner being exclusively hot for Vegas. They are interested and willing to pay up. I'm sure he'd be just as willing if it was Tampa, Boston, Philly, etc. Vegas just happens to be the most aggressive in their pursuit.

It was really Marner for Theodore + 5-6m in cap space. Because Theodore ended up extending for 5-6m less than Marner will get. Plus Vegas may have known that if they wait a year, they can have both players.

The other bit is, we only know that Marner and Theodore were involved in the offer. It was never said that it was a 1 for 1 deal. Only that the Leafs were rejected. And then Theodore extended not long after and the rest is history.
