Probably. But I just don’t see a GM who basically just started here be willing to back off and hand that day to day to someone else. I wouldn’t want to.

I get it. You're part of the cult so you don't realize you're in a cult. But as I've said for years, Leafs fans deserve whatever they get because they refuse to see that their relationship with the team is a one-way street. For fans, it's unconditional love. For MLSE, it is purely transactional. They make you pay to show your love and they give you next to nothing in return. You spend hours posting in threads like this, about how the front office needs to get this player or get rid of that player. No one at MLSE is listening to you. They know that all they need to do is put out another alternate jersey or something and you'll be throwing your money at them.

Stop feeding the beast for a while. Make them earn your money. Then they might ask you what you think and actually listen. But right now they're far too busy counting all that money you just gave them as a reward for yet another playoff implosion.

Anything major still goes through him, as i imagine it would if Tre is Pres and handpicks an assistnant, maybe give the gig to your capologist dude so he has no reason to leave.

I do think MLSE understands the concept of hiring a prez (Masai, Shapiro, Shanahan) and letting him do anything he wants.
