2025-2026 Off Season Thread - The Rehappening

Dobson would be an amazing add, and maybe a guy you could get without paying too much if the Isles don't want to pay him what he'll demand.

Could be a situation where they want more quantity than quality, and you can coax them with Robertson, OEL, and stuff.

Or maybe they want Rielly.
I doubt it. They'll want quality for Dobson but you pay it. As I said, get them to throw in Horvat.

You won’t get Dobson. Maybe a 2nd but we do need picks.
I've read some Islanders beat guys say that Dobson would be available if it shored up their top six. They won't be looking for futures, they will want NHL players.

Agree with keeping Willy over Mitch if a choice must be made there.

Disagree with dumping Tavares just to be rid of him. He doesn't have to be the 2C if he can't cut it there anymore. Having him be a 35 goal winger is still immense value if he's willing to take a huge cut to stay.

He's too slow, and too soft for the playoffs.

I don't care about a 35 goal winger in the regular season and he won't produce at near that if he's ever in the position where he has to earn his role.

Trading the Leaf who is 9th in the NHL in playoff goal scoring per game since 19/20 and keeping the one tied for 158th (with Max Domi!!) would definitely be Leafy.
Sign and trade Marner to the island. 8 years, maybe he does it. NY isn't a terrible place to be when you have money.

From a "let's not waste Matthews' prime perspective, losing Marner for nothing and then having to fill that aav with no assets to trade and a shit free agent class... Not quite ideal. Unloading Nylander for that mythical #1 d is and signing Mitch just feels like a better option for me. They would be trying something they've never done; go into next year year with a horse d. Mack never won shit pre Makar and was considered a disappointing choker. McDavid without Bouchard wasn't the same either.

But I'm pretty much convinced Marner wants out so it's all moot.

Top two are Leafs.

Leafs need to pull a blues and offer sheet. Get aggressive.

the stark realization that you're quickly approaching your 50's and are likely never going to see the Leafs win a cup, but they have broken your soul so many times it just doesn't hurt anymore. the curse of a Leaf fan
