2025-2026 Off Season Thread - The Rehappening

He was a legit difference maker in the playoffs two years ago for them. To the point where I was like we had this guy and dumped him, and could really use this crash and bang, heavy tempo, aggressive style now and don't have it. I have no clue how he looked this past season, but clearly those numbers are terrible. If things go well, Roy and Joshua could both provide 15 goals and bring a ton of size and aggression to wear down other teams.

I just wish he was paid like a 4th liner so that if he has a year like last year, he can play there and it won't hurt us.

They have $3M. Ditch Kampf and Krok and it goes to $7.5M. Drop Pezzetta to the Marlies as they will and it's $8.3M.

Losing one of the expendable D in a trade is another $3.5M.

There's still plenty of flexibility to add an impact player plus sign Robertson (or not and just add a better player).
 
Maybe they dump kampfkrok and round out their forward group with Roslovic in the end. Nice mix of ogre slugs and one way defensive black holes on forward. Yippee.

I'm with you. I wouldn't have done it this way. With retention, I'm intrigued. If Tre's bet pays off though and he plays like a big, hustling guy and pots 15 goals, he earns his money and we got him for free. If he's a 10 point guy, this is going to sting. But I think they see this as a cheaper Josh Anderson if it pans out they way they're hoping.

Yeah, spending ridiculous coin on multiple 4th liners/extremely borderline 3rd liners was kinda Treliving’s thing in Calgary. And one of the big reasons I was vehemently opposed to his hiring.

The thing I don’t get is that Joshua at 2x$3.25M would be a godawful UFA signing. But as a trade, this should have been a pure salary dump at minimum, or really the Canucks should’ve had to pay to dump this entire salary.

So why are we the ones coughing up a draft pick here?
 
If you remove his good year last year, over 2/3 years he is tied for 92nd in 5v5 ixg/60 with Kempe, Reinhart, Tuch and Bratt and 12th in hits/60. All while puttting up an even rel xGF getting buried dzone starts.

For what looks like the opposite of a nerd pickup, it’s pretty nerdy.

And that is completely eliminated his good year.
