2025-2026 Off Season Thread - The Rehappening

Any man who must type out several long-winded paragraphs about just how not worried they are every single time the subject of McDavid’s contract comes up is, in fact, quite worried.

but you're worried, just a little bit, or you wouldn't be typing all this out.
Worried about what exactly? If you got McDavid tomorrow you'd still need two more McDavid's to win more than 2 rounds.

I dont think many of you realize exactly what's happening with your team here. You arent going up anymore. You've peaked.

The law of gravity is undefeated.

He’s coming home.

…As long as Bundy doesn’t hamstring the team with garbage contracts that can’t be moved to open space for him.

Why haven’t Kampf and/or Jarnkrok been moved yet?

Because Treliving considers them valued members of the team that should play regularly when healthy, not cap ballast to be dumped.

Why would he want to to "come home"? The Leafs offer him zero chance of winning a Cup. Zero. He only comes if he stops caring about chasing Cups, which he hasn't. He'll be a Golden Knight before he ever "comes home".

But where did he compared the Leafs with 97 to the Oilers without him ?
The Leafs with 97 are no closer than the Oilers with 97 were. The path to a Cup for McDavid goes through a small number of US based teams in tax free jurisdictions.

If and when he does that, THEN he might "come home". But not before he's done chasing Cups.

Who's better than Nylander? And Knies? Tavares? And who's their goalie? Their D?

They only get anywhere because they have McDavid and Drai. Remove one of them and they're not a playoff team.

If the Leafs are so good why cant they get out of their own division?

Nugent-Hopkins has a higher playoff point percentage than Tavares or Nylander. Hyman's is just as good as Tavares' or Nylander's. Ekholm and Bouchard are better than any Leafs defenseman.

And then, of course, there's Draisaitl.

If the Oilers had credible goaltending they'd have won at least one of the last two Cups. But they managed to win the conference back to back while the Leafs never made it past the second round. So tell me again how the Leafs are better outside of your imagination.

You can't keep pretending that you're a Cup contender when you can't even win your own division. Your team is a fraud. It's been a fraud during the entire core 4 era. And it won't get better now that it's down to a core 3. Everyone except you knows this, including McDavid. He isnt "coming home" just to board a sinking ship. Stop pretending that McDavid is stupid and motivated by feels like you.

You need to wrap your head around the fact that it's over. The dream is dead. You arent getting better. You're on the down escalator now. It's time to rebuild. The Leafs are about to start sucking hard again, so buckle up, buttercup.

Shut the fuck up already. I will dispatch you. We’ve fucking read this shit to death. You’re like a zombie that needs a spear to the brain.

FFS I mean it always WeHave. Don’t test me.

Let's just say they're no worse since they play in a less competitive division. Moving from the Oilers to the Leafs is not an upgrade. You're no closer to a Cup. When was the last time the Leafs were one or two wins away from a championship? Or even 4 wins away?

Time to face the unpleasant truth. The Leafs are regressing, not ascending. They cant even get out of their own division, let alone compete for the Cup.
Might need to jog my memory but I seem to recall that the Panthers are Stanley Cup Champignons and are in the same Division as Le Leafs??
