Once the expiring contacts are gone and Gally/ Anderson off the books in a few years its not far from a gut job over 5 years

Matheson, Gallagher, Anderson’s contracts are all organically expiring years after HuGo took over …. they weren’t jettisoned out on month 1 which is what a “gut job” is

Only MM was moveable , other 2 need them to expire

Gut jobs take years cant turn over a roster overnight , huge turnover after 3 years so far

Yup , teams may not want to tweak with chemistry

Typically you get about 20- 30 moves with maybe 5 that may move the needle

Word here is Tanev maybe out long term with his arm that may force a desperate move

I love when the Leafs make trades out of desperation.

Except it is. Organic roster turnovers aren't gut jobs.
