2025 NHL UFA/Trade Thread

I think he'd accept at, or north of, $3.2 million for 5 years.
$3.5M in 2028 cap $$ is equivalent to $2.5M player today ….Evans is much better than that & he / his agent know it

Simply put anything less than $4M AAV with cap about to skyrocket, is a let me piss on your face offer

I hope he gets it somewhere. Given the early career concussions i thought he would have a short career. He has given his all for us and I wish him well.

"Pierre LeBrun says that Kent Hughes is telling NHL teams that they already have many draft picks & they won’t trade Jake Evans & Joel Armia just because they’re both upcoming UFAs. He wants serious trade offers or he’s willing to keep them on the Habs.

Interested teams: WPG, TOR, EDM, NJ & MIN."

TOR has to pay more.

Minnesota is an interesting fit. They have a first in 2026. Anything else of interest?
I want actual prospects already in their pipeline if we’re trading 71 AND 40 to them. As Hughes apparently said, we have enough draft picks. I’m fine with re-signing 40. We don’t have a replacement for him. Riley Heidt could be interesting. Danila Yurov too.

Yurov underwent ankle surgery Thursday and is expected to be back in time for the KHL playoffs, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.

Yurov was selected 24th overall in the opening round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft by the Wild and is expected to cross the pond at the conclusion of the KHL playoffs. He could play the remainder of the season with AHL Iowa and compete for a job with Minnesota during training camp ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. He has 13 goals and 25 points in 46 games with Magnitogorsk Metallurg of the KHL this season.

I’m always interested in firsts. 2026 even better.
