Pesce is perfectly fine in a zone defense so long as he’s healthy. He was still solidly winning his shifts in NJ in 24-25 when he was healthy and had a consistent D partner. Last year he missed over half the season and their D group was a train wreck, so I wouldn’t judge him on that. Plus, that $5.5 mil Cap hit is perfectly reasonable for him under the current Cap. No way Carolina brings him back though, so I wouldn’t be concerned about that. In his prime he was just barely mobile enough to play man to man. Now that he’s over 30, that’s a pipe dream.

On Nikishin, keep in mind that the longer this goes, the less leverage he has and the more likely it is that he’ll end up with a bridge contract with the Canes. Personally, I think that if there was this terrific market to trade him, then Tulsky would have done it already. Plenty of teams would be willing to take him on the cheap (cough, cough … St Louis), but Carolina has exactly zero incentive to do that. He’s not a UFA until 2029 and won’t even have arbitration rights until next year, plus the Canes have a couple of other options to play right side on that 3rd pairing if he ends up holding out. I think Nikishin’s camp knows all this better than anyone, which is why you’re hearing the noise from them while you’re hearing silence from the Canes.

My question is, "how many seats are actually available as part of Season ticket plans?" The Canes don't make EVERY seat available to be sold as part of season ticket packages. So when they say 'all Season tickets are completely sold out', what does that really mean? Is that 15k seats? 16k? More (or less)?
Yup. They don’t sell season packages for the viewing deck area and I don’t think they sell them for portions of a couple of the 300 level sections they use for group sales, promotions, college rush and the like. If the new capacity is roughly 18,600 then I’d guess 16K is the season ticket cap. You could ask your rep, but you know they won’t allow them to disclose that … even if they’ve been told. Same as always, these are state secrets for some reason

Typo on my part … per usual. I meant to type 19,600 and missed a key. Either way I’m guessing they’ve got about 3K for team use and single game sale. Could be WAY off on that, but I do remember a rep telling me years ago that the “full season ticket” capacity was around 15K when they combined partials into full accounts.
Whatever it is, it’s a far cry from when Chopper went to box office the roof to get to 12,000 season tickets.

Just the box office roof. It was supposed to the the arena roof but he discovered he was afraid of heights.
