Sure Marchenko will end up w say 10pts more than Knies, that’s not a significant upgrade given they lose physicality in top-6

Market or above-market? Coz if HuGo ain’t willing to pay market, especially with an existing core that is way below market, then this team isn’t winning jack shit.

KM isnt enough to move the needle but is better suited for 4 rounds of war than CC

KM has disappeared down the stretch for CBJ. He's not known for being a "go to war" type of player.
Marchenko is a better player than Knies will ever be. Hence why I was against the trade rumours last trade deadline. Marchenko can score 40 playing with AM.
The team however is a miscast bunch I don’t know what’s.
Leafs D average age is 33. The youngest guy is a 28 year old journeyman (Blankenberg). Overall they have no puck movers outside of Reilly who just can’t do it anymore.
The goalies average age is 35 with lots of recent injuries.
Decent enough forward group with little chemistry and two raw rookies in the top 6 (Cowan and Gavin).
Somehow the team remains odd.
